Process Development Technologist Jonathan Gilberd, who helped organise Wilmar’s stand at the Industry Night held in first semester, said a large number of companies attended, which reflected the current high demand for engineers and very competitive job market.

“We were very busy and I think managed to chat to the majority of students who attended the event,” he said.

“In addition to promoting Wilmar programs, we tried to improve awareness of the Sugar Research Institute’s scholarship program, which is a really great pathway into the industry.”

Invicta Mill Manager Operations Harrison Slogrove, who attended the second semester event, said it was good to be able to talk to students about the career opportunities that Wilmar has to offer.

“The students knew about the sugar industry generally but not the specific jobs that are available,” he said.
