Yarraville-based Wilmar ANZ IT team members gave a much-needed helping hand to vulnerable Victorians when they volunteered at Foodbank.
A great team effort by Keith Aldridge, Rajeev Abraham, Hiroshi Leong, John Angelopoulos, Cath Visalli, Anne Heathcote and Suzanne MacNish will have a big impact on families in need. The team packed the equivalent of 13,080 meals during a team-building activity at Foodbank’s warehouse, just down the road from Sugar Australia’s Yarraville Refinery.
IT Business Partner John Angelopoulos, who organised the event, said it was a great opportunity to bring the team together and give back to those less fortunate.
“We have some new team members and so it was good for everyone to be able to interact and work together as a team,” he said.
“We split into smaller teams to pick orders and place them on palettes, ready for collection by food relief organisations.”
Foodbank Victoria is currently feeding 100,000 people every two days - the equivalent of an MCG crowd.
The organisation supports more than 450 charities that distribute the food to those who need it most.
Sugar Australia has a long-standing partnership with Foodbank, which includes donations of sugar products.
