From its plants in Asia, Wilmar manufactures a number of fatty alcohols, including cetyl alcohol which is derived from a vegetable source. It is a pure carbon chain 16 cut. This ingredient is used widely in the cosmetic industry as an opacifier in shampoos, or as an emollient or thickening agent in the manufacture of skin creams and lotions. It is also known to be used as an ingredient in industrial lubricants.
