From its plants in Asia, Wilmar manufactures lauric acid derived mostly from palm kernel oil. It is produced by splitting the fats at high pressure and temperature. Lauric acid is used in the manufacture of personal care products as a surface active agent. It is also known to be used in some healthcare products, however it cannot be ingested on its own.

Oleochemicals

  • Dimer acid
    Used in adhesives, surfactants and lubricants.
  • Esters (MCTs, IPP, IPM, IPL)
    Medium chain triglycerides, isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl myristate. Often used in lubrication formulations and personal care lotions such as sunscreen. MCTs are also used as a nutritional energy source.
  • Fatty acids
    Fractioned fatty acids
    Oleic acid, myristic acid, capric acid, stearic acid, caprylic/capric acid, lauric acid, palmitic acid. Suitable for a diverse range of applications.

    Distilled fatty acids
    Coconut distilled and palm kernel distilled options. Mainly used as an ingredient in agricultural, personal care and other formulations.

    Methyl esters
    A popular ingredient in cleaning products, lubricants, defoamers and wetting agents.
  • Fatty alcohols
    Mainly used in cosmetic formulations and to manufacture surfactants.
  • Refined glycerine
    Commonly used in the manufacture of food and pharmaceuticals, as an ingredient in cosmetic moisturisers, and a processing aid for mining.

    For inclusion in high-end soap bars, such as translucent soaps and high lather, and laundry soaps.
