All eight of our factories are now in full swing for the 2025 season, with Proserpine Mill coming online over the weekend.

It's been a good start to the season overall.

Our four Burdekin factories all kicked off on 3 June as planned. Plane Creek Mill started on 7 June – a few days later than scheduled due to wet field conditions.

The Herbert mills had their earliest season start in many years. Macknade Mill saw the first bin tipped on 10 June and Victoria Mill came online on 16 June.

Proserpine Mill processed the first cane for the season on Sunday 22 June – five days later than planned due to widespread rain and some issues identified during the final steam trial.

As at 8am today (Wednesday 25 June), our factories had processed a total of 1.19M tonnes of sugarcane.

HERBERT

  •  We’ve had one of the best season starts in years and both factories have settled in well.
  • Thanks to the growing sector for actioning our request to supply only quality cane during the start-up period, to create the best conditions for a smooth start.
  • Early feedback from growers is that there could be some grow-on potential in this year’s crop and it may cut above estimate.

BURDEKIN

BKN_June_2025.jpeg

  • Our four factories started on time and got off to a good start.
  • High dirt levels caused some stoppages at all sites following the recent wet weather event, but these issues are now largely resolved.
  • Factory performance is good overall and we’re crushing to budget.

PROSERPINE

PRO_June_2025.jpeg

  • We’ve processed a small volume of cane since Sunday’s start-up and the factory is settling in.
  • The crop is currently cutting below estimate, although we expect this to improve as we start to process better quality cane.
  • CCS is currently well above budget.

PLANE CREEK

  • The factory is performing well and we’re averaging crush rates of 450t/hr, although showery conditions continue to restrict cane supply to the mill.
  • The majority of standover cane processed so far has been good quality.
  • CCS levels are very good for this time of year.
