We're now a month into the 2026 season and our factories have settled in.
Progress with the crush has been varied, region by region.
The Burdekin has had a good run of weather, while our other three milling regions have been impacted by rain, particularly the Herbert. Proserpine had a significant stop due to the derailment of a sugar train operated by a third party.
As at 8am Friday, our factories had processed a total of 2.32M tonnes of sugarcane, or 15 per cent of the forecast 15.19M tonne crop.
Pleasingly, average weekly CCS is tracking above budget in all four regions.
HERBERT

- The Herbert season got under way on 9 June as planned.
- Unfortunately, wet weather has significantly impacted the first weeks of the season and continues to limit daily loadings.
- Bin weights have been pleasingly high and consistent.
BURDEKIN

- Invicta, Inkerman and Pioneer mills commenced production on 2 June, with Kalamia Mill starting the next day.
- Following some initial commissioning challenges, factory performance has stabilised and all sites are now performing well, delivering weekly throughputs that are above budget expectations.
- The first four weeks of the season have benefited from ideal harvesting conditions, with predominantly dry weather supporting strong harvesting and transport performance.
PROSERPINE

- The Proserpine season got under way on 10 June.
- The derailment of an external sugar train near the Port of Mackay on 28 June forced an extended stop to production, as we were unable to clear the onsite sugar bin.
- Wet paddock conditions in some areas have severely impacted factory operations this week and our contractors are making significant efforts to minimise dirt levels in bins.
PLANE CREEK

- Plane Creek Mill commenced the season on 2 June as planned.
- There was some weather impact to harvesting operations in isolated areas of the district during the second and third weeks of the season.
- Despite this, the harvesting sector is to be commended for delivering high average bin weights.
