We have confirmed season start dates with growers across our four milling regions.
>Burdekin region - Tuesday 3 June
>Plane Creek Mill - Tuesday 3 June
>Herbert region - Tuesday 10 June
>Proserpine Mill - Tuesday 17 June
In the Burdekin, all four factories will kick off on 3 June. In the Herbert, Macknade Mill will start on 10 June, and Victoria Mill's A and B side mills will progressively come online over the following week.
The planned start dates are based on pre-season crop estimates and factory readiness.
The total crop estimate of 14.42M tonnes is down on recent years due to the late 2024 season finish and record rainfall in the first few months of this year.
The Herbert region has taken the biggest hit due to the extraordinary flood event in February. The Herbert crop is estimated at 3.27M tonnes - well down on the region's five-year average throughput of 4.08M tonnes. Plane Creek is the only region with a bigger crop estimate than last year, at 1.6M tonnes.
With only a month to go before our first factories kick off for the 2025 season, steam trials are planned for these dates:
>Macknade Mill - 27 May and 5 June
>Victoria Mill - 21 May and 4 June
>Invicta Mill - 15 May and 26 May
>Pioneer Mill - 20 May and 27 May
>Kalamia Mill - 22 May and 29 May
>Inkerman Mill - 13 May and 27 May
>Proserpine Mill - 28 May and 11 June
>Plane Creek Mill - 20 May and 27 May
