Employees from our Sugar Australia business contributed  60 volunteer hours to Foodbank Victoria to support families in need.

In 2022 Sugar Australia donated 128 tonnes of 1kg CSR white sugar to Foodbank. Valued at over $136,000, it makes up 25 per cent of Foodbank’s total annual sugar requirements.

Aligning with the UN Sustainability Development Goals, social impact for community good is a key pillar of Sugar Australia’s sustainability vision.

Sugar Australia’s Chief Operating Officer Paul Gregory said the company first partnered with Foodbank Australia more than 15 years ago, and this partnership was a key focus of the company’s sustainability commitment.

“The initiative is a great opportunity for the team to give back to the community, particularly in the lead-up to the holidays,” Mr Gregory said.

“We hope to continue to work with Foodbank over the coming years, to provide support for the organisation and work on ways to further expand our contribution.”

Foodbank’s 2022 Hunger Report highlighted that more than two million households in Australia experienced severe food insecurity in the past 12 months. Those hardest hit by the crisis were households with children, as half a million homes struggle each day to put food on the table.

With the support of businesses like Sugar Australia, Foodbank provides relief to over a million people each month.
