Our eight factories have processed nine million tonnes of cane, which represents 58 per cent of the total forecast crop.

The declaration of an El Nino weather pattern means a reduced chance of a wet finish to the 2023 season.

However, the predicted drier, hotter conditions may cause cane yields to drop off, and have an adverse impact on next year’s crop.

  • Multiple transfers between factories to manage standover cane are creating logistical challenges and some cane supply gaps.
  • Standover cane with low purity and CCS has hindered processing at both factories.
  • Fine weather conditions continue to prevail, and CCS levels are on an upward trend.
