We’re on the home stretch of the 2026 season, with the first of our eight mills expected to crush out next week.

Kalamia Mill in the Burdekin is on track to finish the season next Wednesday, followed by Inkerman Mill next Friday. Based on the estimated final crop and no significant disruptions, we should see the last of our factories finishing in mid November.

Ongoing dry weather across most regions has enabled us to make good progress with the crush and we’ve now processed a total of 11.82M tonnes of sugarcane, or 86 per cent of the estimated 13.74M tonne crop.

While total cane tonnes are down this season, sugar content is up. Average CCS has been tracking above budget throughout the season, which will help offset the impact of reduced tonnes for growers.

As we enter the final weeks of the season, I want to remind all growers and harvesting operators to keep safety front of mind, manage fatigue and take extra care around our cane rail network.

HERBERT

  • Early season rainfall and continued wet weather has impacted harvesting and cane supply for much of the season. Most of the harvesting effort is now in the western corridor, which is creating gaps in early morning cane supply.
  • Average weekly CCS remains pleasingly high and continues to lift the season-to-date figure, which is now sitting on 13.78 units.
  • The Herbert mills are currently expected to finish the season in the second week of November.

BURDEKIN

  • The Burdekin region has benefited from dry weather throughout the 2026 season, supporting strong harvesting and transport performance.
  • Season-to-date CCS is tracking at 15.00, which is 0.34 of a unit above budget, providing a positive offset to the reduced tonnes.
  • Kalamia Mill is expected to finish on 14 October, Inkerman Mill on 16 October, Pioneer Mill on 20 October and Invicta Mill a few days later.

PROSERPINE

  • Ongoing dry conditions persist in several areas of the Proserpine region and the crop is showing the effects.
  • Average weekly CCS has been tracking above 15 units in recent weeks. The season-to-date CCS is now sitting on 14.32 units, which is 0.41 of a unit above budget.
  • Proserpine Mill is currently expected to finish the season on 21 October.

PLANE CREEK

  • Dry weather continues to support harvesting operations across the Sarina district, however the crop is showing signs of stress due to the lack of moisture in the soil.
  • CCS continues to rise. This week’s average is sitting on an impressive 16.55 units, and the season-to-date CCS is now 15.10 units.
  • Plane Creek Mill is currently expected to finish the season in early November.
