Season update - we're at 66 per cent

A run of dry weather has enabled us to make good headway with the crush.

Our eight mills have now processed a total of 9.24M tonnes of sugarcane. That represents about 66 per cent of the estimated 13.85M tonne crop.

The first of our factories is on track to crush out in mid-October, with the last mill expected to finish by mid-November.

HERBERT

  • The Herbert crop is currently cutting at 97 per cent of the adjusted estimate.
  • Weekly CCS levels have risen to 14.35 – more than a unit above budget for this stage of the season.
  • The Herbert mills are currently expected to finish the season by mid-November.

BURDEKIN

  • The industry has benefited from predominantly dry weather conditions over the past 15 weeks, supporting strong harvesting and transport performance.
  • Season-to-date CCS is tracking 0.51 of a unit above budget, providing a positive offset to the reduced tonnes.
  • Kalamia Mill is expected to be the first in the Wilmar group to finish the season, in mid-October. The other three Burdekin mills are expected to crush out by the end of October.

PROSERPINE

  • We are expecting to hit the 1M tonnes crushed milestone at Proserpine Mill some time next week.
  • Dry conditions are persisting in several parts of the Proserpine region and the crop is showing the effects. The crop is currently cutting at about 94 per cent of the adjusted estimate.
  • Proserpine Mill is currently expected to finish the season at the end of October.

PLANE CREEK

  • Harvesting conditions across the district have been ideal for the season to date and we are seeing healthy bin weights. However, the lack of in-season rainfall is causing a significant drop in yield.
  • CCS remains well above budget, with the season-to-date average at 14.82 units.
  • Plane Creek Mill is currently expected to finish the season in early November.
