We’re making good headway with the 2025 season, underpinned by improved factory performance and a reasonable run of weather.
Our eight mills have now processed 4.36M tonnes of sugarcane, or 30 per cent of the total estimated crop.
We did lose some time to wet weather last week, particularly in the Herbert and Burdekin regions, and our factories have come online as cane supply permitted.
Widespread coastal rain is forecast for tomorrow. We will stay in touch with harvesting groups about impacts to cane supply.
HERBERT
- Factory performance has been very good, despite the recent wet weather.
- The harvesting and growing
- sectors are doing a good job of keeping cane supply up to the mills, under difficult conditions. Cane quality has been good overall, with some minor quality issues from standover and flood-affected cane.
- Capital upgrade works to the Long Pocket Bridge in Abergowrie will commence next week.
BURDEKIN
- Our four Burdekin mills are running well, with availability trending above budget.
- The Burdekin crop is cutting at 100 per cent of estimate and CCS is tracking slightly above budget.
- We’re maintaining budgeted throughput despite recent wet weather interruptions.
PROSERPINE
- Factory performance has been good overall.
- The crop is cutting at 102 per cent season to date compared to the original budget.
- One-third of the standover cane has been processed season to date.
PLANE CREEK
- Factory performance has been a highlight for the 2025 season.
- Growers and contractors are supplying good bin weights and quality cane to the factory.
- CCS remains below budget. About 80,000 tonnes of standover cane have been processed to date.
